    Easy to Embellished, From The Deep Blue

    The ocean has always intrigued me. Below the surface is a secret world teeming with enchanting creatures. The new From The Deep Blue stamp set beautifully captures an array of sea life perfect for cards and scrapbook layouts. I have 3 cards to share with you today beginning with a simple single-layer stamped card and then stepping it up each time thereafter.

    For my first card above, I have combined the Seahorse and coral stamp to create a scene. This card came together quickly as it is all single layer stamping.

    • Begin with a piece of White Daisy cut to 3 3/4 x 5″
    • Stamp the coral along the bottom in Nectarine ink
    • Stamp the seahorse in Intense Black Ink and color as desired. I used Coral and Blue Turquoise Spectrum Noir Tri-Blends
    • Add your sentiment as shown and adorn with bubbles stamped in Lagoon Ink
    • Adhere to a piece of Lagoon cardstock cut to 4 x 5 1/4″
    • Then attach to your white card base using the White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack.

    This next card was very fun to create. I used a masking technique to create my background element stepping this card up quite a bit.

    • Begin with a piece of White Daisy cut to 3 3/4 x 5″
    • Mask and ink blend as shown in the youtube tutorial
    • Embellish with a seahorse popped up with dimensional foam adhesive. I have colored this one with the Coral Tri-Blend marker
    • Stamp coral on the upper right side of the card panel and add a sentiment of your choosing.
    • Finish off with a few enamel dots randomly placed on the card front

    This last card is definitely my favorite! I love all the dimension, layering and ink blending. I’ve also dressed up the card panel with the Stitched Rectangle Frames Die to add the stitched detailing around the edges.

    • Begin with a white Daisy panel cut from the largest Stitched Rectangle Frames die.
    • Stamp the Coral using Nectarine Ink on the lower left and right corners and on a scrap of White Daisy to die cut.
    • Using the medium Stitched Rectangle Die, cut another piece of White Daisy and ink blend using the same technique demonstrated in card two.
    • Splatter your inked panel with Clear Shimmer Brush to add sparkle and shine
    • Layer stitched pieces together as shown and adhere to a piece of Peacock cardstock.
    • Add the Seahorse and additional coral piece as shown using foam tape to add dimension. Before tacking the seahorse down attach some Gold Embellishing Thread looped around 3 times.
    • Attach sentiment as shown. I’ve used the May stamp of the month and heat embossed white onto black cardstock

    Easy to Embellished Birthday Greetings

    Hello, today I have some fun birthday cards to share with you. This is another Easy to Embellished series where I make three cards getting a bit fancier with each go.

    I often find it easier to do a project after watching it come together. Plus you can pick up some tips and tricks that are difficult to share in a blog post. Below is the YouTube tutorial for your convenience.

    I was having so much fun I just kept on creating. Here are two more versions I came up with. I used the candle to create my own pattern paper. To really pull this look off, I recommend rotating the position of your stamp and also stamping off the edge of the cardstock.

    My first card is simple and came together quickly. It’s cardstock and stamping combined to create a fun look. You can choose any color palette you like! I used a tiny strip of patterned paper leftover from the Mix in Papers from our Fall catalog. I chose the color scheme for my card by selecting tones from the patterned paper.

    Card Details:

    • Trim a piece of Sage cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4”
    • Trim White Daisy to 3 1/4 x 5”
    • Lay White Daisy piece on a sheet of scrap paper and stamp border of candles along the bottom of card staggering candle height each time and alternating ink colors.
    • Using a blending tool, blend Sage ink onto White Daisy to create a colorful spot for your sentiment.
    • Stamp sentiment in Pansy ink directly over your sponged area (if you sponge ink over your sentiment it can smudge your lettering)
    • Adhere layers together as shown and attach to a white A2 card base.
    • Add your coordinating patterned paper strip to the top of your front card panel and this one is complete!

    For card #2 I’ve layered pattern paper with die cuts and embossed cardstock for a card that is sure to delight.

    Card Details:

    • Using the Multi Square Windows Die, cut shape from a piece of Sage cardstock.
    • Trim your background pattern paper slightly smaller than 4 x 5 1/4″. I have chosen this Wisteria dot pattern paper from the Fall Mix in papers.
    • Adhere to your A2 card base, and then add your square windows die cut piece as shown.
    • For the sentiment sponge Sage ink onto a piece of White Daisy and then stamp your sentiment in Pansy. Use the Stitched Bracket Frame, center over your stamped image and die-cut.
    • Take a piece of Wisteria cardstock and emboss using the Celebrate embossing folder. Trim to 1.5 x 4 3/4″, dovetail the bottom end and adhere to the card front as shown.
    • The striped piece is a zip strip from the fall mix-ins as well. Trim this piece to 5″ and dovetail one side
    • Attach your sentiment
    • Stamp 3 candles, fussy cut and adhere to lower corner of Stitched Bracket.
    • Embellish candles with Stickles Silver Glitter Gel, and add 3 silver glitter gems to upper left corner of sentiment to balance and complement your candles.
    • Just like that, you’re done with card # 2

    Now onto Card #3! Card 2 may be a bit more embellished but this next card really highlights the Celebrations embossing folder.

    Card details:

    • Begin with a piece of Julep cardstock cut at 4 x 5 1/4″. Emboss with the Celebrate Embossing folder.
    • Die-cut a Stitched Bracket in Glacier
    • Trim a piece of patterned paper to 4 x 1 3/4″ and a piece of Saffron cardstock to 4 x 2″
    • To see how I stamped the sentiment I recommend you watch the youtube tutorial for some tips.
    • Cut your sentiment with the largest of the Stitched Circles. This one is approx 2 1/4″
    • For my faux ribbon trim behind the sentiment, you’ll need a piece of cardstock trimmed to 1/4 x 9″. Fold back and forth 3 times, dovetail the ends and adhere behind your circle.
    • To stretch my Stitched Square Bracket into a rectangle, I’ve cut it in half and tucked behind the top and bottom of my patterned paper strip.
    • Adhere all the pieces as shown
    • To balance the Saffron color I opted to carry it to the top of my card front with the gold sequins.
    • You are now ready to brighten someone’s day with this fun card!

    Here is an idea for the inside of these cards. I’ve mimicked what I did on the first card to decorate the inside panel. I switched out the sentiment to add interest. You can use the word Celebrate for so many occasions beyond birthdays.

    Thanks A Latte “Easy to Embellished” vol 2

    Welcome back and thanks for joining me for my second “Easy to Embellished” card series. Today’s cards feature the “Perk Up” stamp set and coordinating thin cuts. I also incorporated the leaf image from the Hawthorn scrapbooking stamp set. I’ve had so much fun creating with these stamps! Below is card number one. It’s a quick and super simple card you can pull together in minutes.

    Card #1 recipe: Begin with a piece of White Daisy trimmed to 4”x 5.25”. Stamp your leaf 🍁 in Canary onto card as shown then secure a mask over your stamped image. (You will stamp your leaf onto a scrap and fussy cut to create your mask). You can now stamp the coffee cup over your masked leaf. Next stamp the java jacket in Sangria and then the lid in Black. I then stamped the coffee stain rings in Toffee, stamping once and then again before re-inking. Stamp your sentiment in Black ink. To add a few finishing touches I doodled around the edges to create a border then added a bow tied from jute from my stash.

    Card #2

    For my 2nd card I dressed it up a bit by adding color. Starting with a piece of Almond card-stock for my base, I then trimmed a green center piece from a Hawthorn Picture My Life Cards measuring 2.5”x4”. I love the green and gold crackled background on this paper! Next tie a bit of gold embellishing thread around the bottom of the center piece. On a scrap of White Daisy stamp the leaf in Goldrush ink and the coffee cup and lid in Black. Line up the coordinating thin cuts, secure with removable tape and use your die cutting machine to cut images. If you don’t have the coordinating dies then just fussy cut around your images. Instead of stamping my java jacket onto the cup, I stamped the backside of my patterned paper and trimmed around the stamped image. This allowed me to use the other side (plaid) without the stamped pattern showing. Stamp the sentiment onto the leaf. Use your favorite adhesive to adhere everything into place. Lastly I finished the card by adding a frame from the stitched rectangle dies also cut in Almond.

    Card #3!!!

    I saved the best for last! This one is definitely my favorite! There is a lot going on here to give this card the wow factor. I layered the center of my stitched rectangle die (in Almond) onto a piece of Sangria (4”x5.25”). I love, love, love ❤️ the stitched detail in these dies. For the center I trimmed a piece of the Hawthorn plaid patterned paper to 2.5” x 4.25” and cut the bottom into a banner shape. Add your Gold thread before you adhere everything down so you can wrap it around the card stock. I stamped my coffee cup onto another picture my life card and then colored the inside of the cup with a dark brown marker to resemble coffee. I then fussy cut the java jacket from the corrugated paper. I still can’t get over how 3 dimensional that paper looks! You have to touch it to see that it’s flat. For my leaf, I first stamped onto the Canary ink pad then rolled the edges very carefully onto my Sangria ink. This gives those lovely edges to the leaf. So pretty! I applied a little sparkle to the leaf tips with my clear shimmer pen. When you look at the photo below that coffee looks real. The trick is to apply a thin layer of liquid glass to give it that glossy effect. I also added a bit of dimensional foam to pop the leaf up on top of the coffee cup ☕️
